The Polterdrache Species
Basic Info
Polterdrache are a closed species of dragon-like aliens. Polterdrache were originally intended by their creators to be a multitude of things as they planet-hopped through the galaxy and settled in new places. This included Work Animals, Pets, and a source of food. Some were even dropped on planets just to see if it was a livable environment in the long-run.However, the PDs had a habit of escaping and being far too curious and wily for their own good, ending up invasive species on every single planet. Their highly mutagenic DNA allowed them to alter their colors, traits, and body parts slowly over the course of months or years, not just between generations!Over time, the Creator Race has vanished from spreading themselves too thin and not being able to replicate the positives they created in the PDs in themselves. Perhaps they were immune to their own technology.
Some clusters and planets with PDs saw the rise of new civilizations as select groups gained higher sentience and made tribes, towns, cities, cultures, and some becoming space-faring themselves. Some remain at a feral state, but almost always know how to use basic tools. There are Commons and Royals from a basic standpoint
The main difference being that pure Royals are predisposed to having feathered wings, more fur, and more traits. Royals were also originally intended to be 'broodmares' of a sort by the creator species. Their genetic disposition made traits pass easier to offspring among other things, but once the Creators were gone, they became pack leaders and rulers.Outside of simple 'common, hybrid, and royal' types there are additional types based on their genetic structure and lineage. These include Brutes, Kaiju, Spindle, Villeah, Dwarf, and Aquatic.
Brutes and Spindle are chance happenings.
Kaiju, Villeah, and Dwarf need specific parentage/genes.
Aquatic are semi-separate entirely due to their hyper-specialization and have their own Royals. However they can still interbreed with normals to a point.Polterdrache can interbreed freely with outside species but those children are sterile in the eyes of the official species and cannot interbreed with official Polterdrache. [this means fan kids between Polterdrache and a wolf OC would be for funsies only and not usable within species related things]Wings are standard but sometimes mutations can occur and they can be wingless or have multiples of limbs. It's not unheard of for freak combinations to happen either where both a 'multi wing' and 'no wing' mutation appear and they have 2 wings only on their right side.Polterdrache also have no set physical Sex and can alter their body composition to meet the needs of their partner or species. Because of this, Gender/Sex is not tracked on the registry. In more developed societies however, many acquire a preferred gender and sex and will identify as such.
Average Height/Weights of AdultsStandard : 5 ft | 3000 lb [1.5 tons]
Brute : 7 ft | 4500 lb [2.25 tons]
Spindle : 10 ft | 5500 lb [2.75 tons]
Dwarf : 2'6" ft | 1750 lb [0.875 tons]
Hydro : 5'6" ft | 5000 lb [2.5 tons]
Kaiju : 8'6" ft | 6500 lb [3.25 tons]
Villeah : 9'6" ft | 6500 lb [3.25 tons]
Adopts and Customs
Adopts are semi-frequently made and easy to obtain usually, consisting of 'First Generation' Polterdrache who have no registered family lineage and have no risk of creating inbreeding or other issues.Below is the base calculations for how they are priced.**All Polterdrache are able to have 2 Common and 1 Uncommon trait for Free which does not impact their base valueAny Adopt that is raffled for free is not allowed to be sold for its base value unless it has gained monetary value since being owned.
i.e. you buy an icon of the character with real money. You may now sell the character for it's base value + the cost of art. But if you did the art yourself or it was gifted, it does not allow for monetary resale of the character.

Customs Have their own price guidelines for initial purchase due to them being fully customized to the owner's wishes from the ground up including colors, trait placements and variables, etc. This increased price for creation however does not increase their resale value and the Base Value Calculator must still be used if the custom is sold.Traits for Customs work the same as anything else, you get 2 common and 1 uncommon for free and the price is the same otherwise as seen above.

Breeding
Any 2 Polterdrache can be bred together to make a hatchling, or sometimes Hatchlings, given both of the owners have given consent.Due to their flexible DNA and ability to adapt to almost any environment, including what mates are available, Polterdrache sexes are not put on their registry. In this way it does not limit which dragons can be paired to whom. The only pseudo-restriction is that it is preferred Hatchlings remain as they are for a minimum of 2 months before they are aged up. This can be circumvented for a fee however anytime after the hatchling is made. All Breedings, unless requested otherwise, will roll for traits. The traits rolled will determine the ultimate cost of the hatchling and it's base value.
If requested, no traits at all will be rolled and you only pay for the base, no trait version of the hatchling.

Pass Rates
A lot of factors go into how things end up in a Breeding.
This can range from what the parents are, their body type, and traits!Common x Royal = Hybrid no matter whatRoyal x Hybrid OR Common x Hybrid:
Royal vs Hybrid vs Common outcome here would be determined by a roll of the dice standard.Hydro x Hydro = Will always result in Identical Twins
These twins will only differ in color pallet but both pallets will be based on the adultsHydro x Non Hydro:
This will be treated as a 50/50 coin toss. The Hatchling will either be a Hydro or Not.
Non-Hydros will gain a free Head/Neck area fin as a signifier of heritage
Hydro Offspring will have the ability to gain additional fur length or altered teeth/pupils based on the non-hydro parentIf one or both parents are Royals then it will increase the pass rate of all traits whether they are on the Royal Parent or not.Royal Heritage is rolled like a recessive trait. One can compare it to co-dominant genes in snakes. 1 out of 2 shows it half way [hybrid] 2 of 2 gives you full expression [royal] 0 of 2 gets you a common.Unique Traits that pass will almost always morph into new ones to keep their 'uniqueness' intact. This can be by fusing with other traits, fusing two unique traits together, or just tweaking the original of a parent.

Het Genes and Traits
Surprisingly there are also a few traits with a different set of rules.
These traits are considered Het or Heterozygous Genes, or Recessive Traits.
For these to show up on a Dragon, two copies of the gene, one from each parent, must be passed on.If a Parent has only One copy of the gene there is a 50/50 chance of it passing to the HatchlingHowever if a Parent has Two copies of the gene, and thus expressing it, it is guaranteed for it to pass a copy to a Hatchling.Ontop of the general 'Punnett Square' gene passing, there is also a 10% chance of the mutation occuring on it's own or the Parent with Two Copies to pass both.

During an Age Up and Anytime After, you can also request more traits be added to the dragon in question for a fee.
